Electrical Contractors have been using Porta-Mole Boring Systems for over 30 years.

Circle R Electric in Fort Worth, Texas, owned by the late Gene Rufner, bought the first Porta-Mole after seeing it in the bed of the salesman's Ford Ranchero. He didn't even start the engine. The salesman unloaded it, parked it in his warehouse and Gene wrote him a check.
Gene was ex-President of the old ALECA (Association of Independent Electrical Contractors of America) and invited the developer of the Porta-Mole to be guest speaker at the next meeting. He knew the value of being able to bore at will under paved surfaces to install conduit, cable and pipe and wanted to share this revolutionary new machine with his fellow contractors.

Lay Conduit
Cover Conduit with fill
Re-pave surface
Just to Re-Pave would cost $2,000.

Two Men: Setup Porta-Mole
Dig Entry and Exit Small holes.
Bore 80' crossing.
Remove Boring bit
Attach Swivel/Pullback tool
Pull Conduit Back while removing drill stem
Pull wire though conduit.
Fill Small Entry and Exit hole.

Gene's company bored hundreds of installations and saved his company tens of thousands of dollars. This original machine now on display at Carlton International Manufacturing Corps.' offices.

It is preserved in it's current useable state with the original 3 H.P. engine. It can still bore holes under paved surfaces at an age over 33 years old. Gene was responsible for giving a new company, which started in ½ of a two-car garage, a big shove forward.
